A Winter Miracle: Baylee & Drew’s Dayton Wedding

There is something about a January wedding that feels like a fresh, clean slate. But for Baylee and Drew, their Dayton celebration wasn’t just a new beginning – it was a day deeply rooted in the things & people they love most. As Columbus wedding photographers, we are always so inspired when we get to travel just down the road to document stories in Dayton. There is a specific kind of magic at The Reverie & it’s a venue we’ve quickly developed a huge heart for.

A quick stop at UD Arena

If you know Baylee and Drew, you know that basketball is a huge part of their story. We took a detour to the University of Dayton Arena for some outdoor portraits with the wedding party. While we spend much of our time as Columbus wedding photographers in the capital city, we absolutely love the energy of Dayton. Choosing a location with personal significance like the arena makes for a gallery that feels authentic rather than just gorgeous.

A stunning ceremony at The Reverie

The ceremony at The Reverie was unforgettable, further cementing its place as one of our favorite spots to visit outside of Columbus. But it was the reception where the heart of this family truly shone. I’ve documented many first dances, but Baylee and Drew’s was one of the most emotional I’ve ever witnessed – there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.

One of the greatest joys of being Columbus wedding photographers who travel is the opportunity to collaborate with incredible teams in different cities. The vendors in Dayton are some of the kindest and most talented we’ve had the pleasure of working with, and this day was a perfect example of that community spirit.

The January Miracle: Snow in Dayton, Ohio

During the whole planning process, Baylee had been mentioning how much she wanted just a little bit of snow. It’s the risk you take with an Ohio winter wedding – you hope for a flurry but often settle for the gray.

In the middle of the reception, someone peeked out the window and gasped. The sky had finally opened up. We dropped everything and ran outside into the FREEZING night air. Standing there, capturing them in the middle of a literal winter wonderland, felt like the universe giving them a giant wedding gift. It was the perfect end to a perfect day.
