There is something extra special about packing up our gear and heading up toward the coast of Lake Erie. While we’re based in Central Ohio as Columbus wedding photographers, Lake Erie holds a truly tender place in our hearts . It’s where my dad’s family is from, so anytime a wedding takes us up to Catawba Island, it feels like coming home.

When Liz and Codey reached out to us about documenting their August wedding at Gideon Owen Winery, we couldn’t wait. If you’ve never visited Gideon Owen, it is an absolute dream for a wedding day. It blends old-world wine country charm with coastal Lake Erie vibes.

A Day Filled with Pure Light & Joy

From the moment we arrived, Liz and Codey set the tone for the entire day. It was this: relaxed, giddy, and deeply in love. Some couples are just pure sunshine to be around, and these two were constantly smiling, giggling, and soaking in every single second.

• The Historic Wine Cellar: With rich stone arches, warm candlelight, and historic character, the wine cellar provided an intimate, cozy atmosphere that was as romantic as it gets.
• The Lush Outdoor Grounds: The surrounding estate offered vibrant green gardens, stone patios, and open courtyard views. They made for an unforgettable backdrop as guests celebrated out in the summer air.
• Incredible Food & Wine: One of the best perks of a winery wedding? The wine and culinary experience! Gideon Owen treated everyone to an incredible menu paired with exceptional wines, keeping the atmosphere relaxed and celebratory.

The King of the Dance Floor

Once the formal moments were wrapped up and the reception kicked into high gear, Codey officially stole the show. Safe to say, he earned the title of absolute KING of the dance floor! From the second the DJ started playing, Codey kept the energy at 100%, leading the crowd and keeping everyone on their feet all night long.

Between the heartfelt toasts in the wine cellar and the wild dance party to end the night, Liz and Codey’s wedding was a celebration we won’t soon forget.
