The Hocking Hills Elopement Guide: My Top 3 Photo-Worthy Spots

There’s nothing like the feeling of being surrounded by nature, the quiet intimacy of an elopement & experiencing the beauty of Hocking Hills. Eloping in this area can be filled with so many exciting memories, but it can also be overwhelming to decide where to go to elope in Hocking Hills State Park.

My hope for this blog post is to ease the stress of choosing where to elope by providing me 3 favorite photo-worthy spots for eloping in Hocking Hills – I hope this helps you as you plan!

Spot 1: Old Man’s Cave – The Waterfall Elopement

Name: Old Man’s Cave (I recommend parking at the visitor’s center & starting at the back of the trail where the waterfall is)

Vibe: Old Man’s Cave has a rich history with tons of variety in a small area. I love photographing here for the waterfall, trees, bridge & mossy rocks

Why It’s a Top Spot for Photos:

  • The lighting at Old Man’s Cave is wonderful because it typically provides plenty of shade & has lovely backgrounds all year round
  • The unique backdrop of the waterfall is always a hit! If you’re brave enough, you can even get a few pics under it!
  • This location is great for couples who are up for a short hike to see all the variety of the area!

Pro Tip for Couples: This is the most popular spot in Hocking Hills, so I highly recommend an early morning ceremony, or a weekday!

Spot 2: Ash Cave – The Ultimate Cave Location

Name: Ash Cave (one great thing about this spot is the “flatness” – not a lot of hill & easily accessible!)

Vibe: Ash Cave is stunning with its grand cave, water feature & sandy atmosphere. Couples love this spot for far-away pics, private vows & the scenery it offers!

Why It’s a Top Spot for Photos:

  • The sheer scale of the cave makes your love story look like a scene from a movie
  • I love capturing a couple with that sweeping valley view behind them—it creates a sense of awe.
  • There’s nothing like a short walk that opens up to a huge, beautiful, vast vision

Pro Tip for Couples: This is the perfect location for a rainy day, as the cave provides plenty of protection from the weather!

Spot 3: Conkle’s Hollow – The Shire / Fairytale Location

Venue Name: Conkle’s Hollow (be aware, a lot of times there is no cell service in this area, I recommend downloading you map & using this Google Maps location)

Vibe: This spot reminds me a lot of an enchanted forest. It is often more secluded with less crowds & is great for the adventurous couple who loves to climb & experience creative poses!

Why It’s a Top Spot for Photos:

  • The high walls & little coves offer a lot of privacy for your vows
  • The high rock structures & walls are super fun for a dynamic gallery
  • This spot is for the couple who wants to escape all distractions and truly focus on each other

Pro Tip for Couples: The field outside the Hollow is perfect at golden hour, especially in the fall!

Bonus Spot for Larger Weddings: The Haven at Cedar Grove

If you’re looking for a venue / accommodations for your big day, I highly recommend The Haven. This venue is only 5 minutes away from Old Man’s Cave / Ash Cave & has a stunning lodge / ceremony site for those weddings that are larger than a traditional elopement. They also provide accommodations for their couples / guests with a lot of cabins onsite! Check out a few of my favorite photos from weddings at the Haven:
